Spat-Tech is one of the world’s largest oyster hatcheries. We specialize in spawning and setting oyster larvae on cultch to help replenish and restore endangered reefs. SPAT-Tech works tirelessly exploring alternative ways to promote oyster growth and development, helping support and preserve a way of life for the people of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.

We’ve Grown Billions of Oysters

In 2022, SPAT-Tech has spawned over 12 billion eggs, and harvested and set over 1.3 billion eyed-larvae. Housed in a 60,000+ square foot facility, we grow our own algae, make our own temperature-controlled salt water, and continually refine our processes to improve the fertilization rate and the survival of oysters deployed into the wild.

Revitalizing our Fragile Ecosystem

Oysters are crucial to the health of our oceans around the world. An oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day, provide habitat and food for marine life, and protect coastal regions globally. As a natural resource, the oyster industry provides thousands of jobs and generates billions of dollars for economies across the Gulf of Mexico and the world. Tragically, 85 percent of the world's oyster population has been destroyed over the last 100 years. Hurricanes, man-made disasters, pollution, and overharvesting are just a few of the causes wreaking havoc worldwide. We are committed to grow and deploy billions of oysters annually to replenish the reefs along the Gulf Coast, protecting our shores, our homes, and our way of life.
